Doha, December 01 (QNA) - Belgium Coach Roberto Martinez announced the end of his mission with the national team, after an early exit from the group stage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. His announcement came after Belgium drew with Croatia in the third and final round of Group F.
In the post-match press conference, Martinez said that his mission lasted six years and his goal was to build and today his journey with them came to an end, adding the team will certainly continue to work with another coach in order to set future goals.
While regretting the early exit at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, he added that he made his decision to leave the Belgian national team before the World Cup, saying this is the end of his contract.
He said that they played a difficult match, and they tried in the first half to advance. He said that the Croatian team was able to play with a tight defensive organization and succeeded in thwarting all attempts. (QNA)
