Doha, November 28 (QNA) - HE President of the High Council of State in Libya Khaled Al-Mashri affirmed that the State of Qatar is continuing to organize an exceptional World Cup tournament and leave a human and civilizational legacy to the world despite the hateful racist campaigns that try to distort this great success.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Libya's President of the High Council of State said that they are proud of this amazing organization of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, whose level exceeded all previous tournaments, stressing that this gives them confidence that Arabs are capable of organizing the strongest tournaments and hosting major international events.
He added "the State of Qatar dazzled the world with this distinguished organization of the World Cup, and succeeded in thwarting the racist schemes that try to quench this sparkle, divert the world's attention from this distinction, and dragged us into a square other than the square of sports, through organized campaigns of distortion and misinformation." He continued to say "We are a nation that is proud of its morals and traditions and takes the lead in that," noting that Qatar, in organizing the FIFA World Cup 2022, did not only reveal the sports aspects in preparing and organizing the tournament, but rather it showed its morals and humanity while dealing with the world with respect, appreciation and authentic generosity. Therefore, the World Cup in Qatar will become a milestone in the relationship between peoples and civilizations, and all bets that want otherwise will fail, he added.
Al-Mashri underlined that this World Cup will contribute to changing the distorted stereotype of Arabs and Muslims, after the visitors to Qatar witnessed that elegant and ethical attitude in which all sublime human values and high-end Islamic and Arab ethics were embodied, pointing out that this pulled the rug from under the feet of those who are trying to quench this World Cup sparkle that shines from Qatar and the Middle East region.
He indicated that Qatar's guests from all over the world have seen a good treatment and an exceptional organization that demonstrated Qatari creativity, advanced technology, and a high level of performance at various levels, and this would reflect a positive image of the Arab and Islamic world.
His Excellency called on the world to focus on sport and the human legacy it creates, as well as the opportunity it leaves for humanity to meet and for cohesion and cultural communication, emphasizing that sport is a means to achieve human and civilized goals, but "there are those who try to drag us into other squares that have nothing to do with sport or human values."
