Germany Salvage 1-1 Draw Against Spain, Keep World Cup Hopes Alive

Doha, November 27 (QNA) - Germany salvaged a 1-1 draw against Spain on Sunday in their second Group E match in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, at Al Bayt Stadium, keeping their hopes of advancing to the last-16 alive.

Substitute Alvaro Morata opened the scoring for Spain in the 62nd minute in the game that saw about 69 thousand in the stands. Niclas Fullkrug equalized for Germany in minute 83.

Earlier on Sunday, Costa Rica clinched a precious 1-0 victory over Japan making the group further complicated.

This win puts Spain atop the group standings with four points.

Japan and Costa Rica share the second with three points apiece.

Germany, who lost their World Cup opener 1-2 to Japan, will face Costa Rica on Dec. 1. in the third round of the group. Spain will play Japan on the same day. (QNA)
