Doha, November 27 (QNA) - Croatia defeated Canada 4-1 on Sunday in the second Group H game at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, putting an end to the latter's World Cup campaign that came 36 years since their single World Cup appearance in 1986.
Breaking his country's duck, Alphonso Davis netted for Canada only two minutes into the game, marking the fastest World Cup goal.
However, the 2018 World Cup runners-up responded fiercely with a brace from Andrej Kramaric in minutes 36 and 70. A 44th goal from Marko Livaja and a stoppage-time goal from Lovro Majer stretched the score to 4-1.
This victory sits Croatia atop Group H standings with four points ahead of Morocco on goal difference. Belgium come third with three minutes, while Canada, who were already eliminated from the tournament after two straight defeats, remain last in the group.
The thirdround fixtures will be wrapped up on Thursday with Croatia facing Belgium and Morocco playing Canada. (QNA)
