Riyadh, November 27 (QNA) - Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) on Sunday said that injured Saudi team captain Salman Al Faraj is officially out of the World Cup Qatar 2022, after the injury he sustained in his team's match with Argentina.

Herve Renard has given team captain Salman Al Faraj his permission to officially leave the Green Falcons' camp following the medical team's assessment that he will no longer be fit to play," SAFF said in a tweet today.

Al Faraj was injured at the end of the first half of the historic 2-1 victory over Argentina in Saudi Arabia's first match in the tournament on Tuesday.

The Saudi national team is preparing for their final match in the group stage against Mexico next Wednesday at Lusail Stadium. They have an opportunity to qualify for the second round, as winning their upcoming match will take them directly to the round of 16.
