Doha, November 26 (QNA) - The head coach of the Ecuadorian football national team, Gustavo Alvaro, has confirmed that his compatriot, Lionel Messi, still has the chance to win the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with his country, despite the team's poor start and loss in their first match 1-2 to Saudi Arabia.
Alvaro said in remarks that he Argentine national team possess what it takes to become a world champion. The defeat against Saudi Arabia was painful. Nevertheless, the team can be crowned World champions if they succeed in restoring balance and well handling of the upcoming games.
Alvaro recalled memories of the 2010 World Cup tournament in South Africa, when the Spanish national team lost their first match of the competition, however, eventually they were crowned with the title.
The Argentine team will meet Mexico today in their second match, in which they are looking for victory to keep their hopes alive to qualify for the round of 16. (QNA)
