Doha, November 23 (QNA) - Gavi on Wednesday became Spains youngest goal scorer ever in a World Cup match, firing one past Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas from outside the box during a Group E match at the Al Thumama stadium in Doha. He is just 18 years and 110 days old.
Additionally, he is now also the youngest to score in the quadrennial showpiece since Brazil legend Pelé, who was 17 years and 249 days old when he scored in the 1958 final against Sweden. The second youngest goal scorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup is Mexicos Manuel Rosas in 1930 against Argentina.
On the other hand, the goal scored by Dani Olmo in the 11th minute of the match was the 100th in the history of Spain's participation in the World Cup finals.
The Spanish national team became the sixth team to score 100 goals or more in the history of the tournament, after Brazil (229 goals), Germany (227), Argentina (138), Italy (128), and France (124). (QNA)
