Secretary-General of International Telecommunication Union: FIFA World Cup Qatar Will Be Success Due to Optimal Use of Digital Technologies

Bucharest, October 06 (QNA) - HE Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Houlin Zhao expressed his confidence that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be a great success thanks to the great preparations that have been made to host it and to the optimal use of ICT technology, stressing that this success will not only benefit the athletes, but the whole world as well.
HE the Secretary-General of the ITU said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU PP) in Bucharest, that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will not only be a sporting event but also a global occasion to promote the importance of digital transformation and enhance the use of information technology.
The use of modern technologies in the World Cup makes the event have greater meanings. This is what Qatar has adopted, as it has relied heavily on advanced technologies and information technology as part of its preparations to host the World Cup, HE added.
HE noted that information and communication technology will support sports in general and enhance the skills of athletes in particular, in addition to its great role in making competitions more accurate and efficient through the use of information technologies and advanced communication devices in various sports.
HE Secretary-General of the ITU Houlin Zhao indicated, at the end of his statement to QNA, that the specialists in the field of information and communication technology in Qatar will do their best to provide the best support for sports and the World Cup, which will confirm and promote the power of information and communication technology in the sports industry.
