Doha, October 25 (QNA) - With just weeks to go until the next edition of the tournament in Qatar, the Supreme Committee organized a FIFA World Cup mascot exhibition. The exhibition features every FIFA World Cup mascot since 1966. The display is located on the first floor of City Center Mall and is open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM until Dec. 20.
The collection belongs to Mohammed Abdulateef, a Qatari collector has amassed an impressive array of football memorabilia.
The mascot is a character designed to be a special symbol for each tournament, and is also an important marketing tool, and each World Cup mascot remains a symbol for its respective tournament.
La'eeb was one of the mascot's on display at the exhibition, with a number of other World Cup mascots dating back to the first one that was introduced in World Cup 1966 in England.
La'eeb was revealed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and the International Football Association (FIFA) as an official mascot for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on April 1 on the sidelines of the World Cup draw. Laeeb is an Arabic word meaning super-skilled player. The mascot brings the joy of football to everyone. He belongs to a parallel mascot-verse that is indescribable.
The La'eeb mascot is also on display in many areas in the country, particularly markets and different malls among other places with heavy foot traffic. The mascot is present in those areas to welcome football fans from all around the world.
Throughout the history of the World Cup, FIFA has adopted 15 official mascots, as symbols that refer to the traditions and customs of the countries hosting the World Cup. (QNA)
