Beirut, September 08 (QNA) - Lebanese Finance Minister Yassine Jaber said Lebanon continues to face severe accumulated crises, exacerbated by ongoing Israeli aggression and warfare that have caused massive humanitarian, economic, and physical devastation to infrastructure and property.
Outlining the government's dual-track approach, Jaber explained that administration policies focus simultaneously on immediate crisis response to meet urgent needs, and long-term preparation for strategic recovery once appropriate conditions are met.
Despite immense pressures and growing demands, he told the Media Office at Lebanon's Finance Ministry, that Lebanon has successfully preserved public financial integrity and avoided deep financial destabilization through strict spending prioritization, disciplined liquidity management, and continuous revenue mobilization.
He emphasized that while this fiscal discipline served as a critical risk-management tool during years of crisis, the upcoming phase requires transforming the national budget into an instrument for state-building and economic recovery.
Concluding his remarks, Jaber asserted that a budget is much more than mere numbers, stressing the urgent need to transition from an austerity-focused framework to a strategic budget that actively reflects governmental vision, national priorities, and sustainable development. (QNA)
