Doha, September 7 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the 32nd meeting of the Committee of Heads of GCC Capital Market Authorities (or their representatives), held virtually on Monday.
HE Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), Dr. Tami bin Ahmed Al Binali, represented the State of Qatar at the meeting.
The meeting went over the follow-up on the implementation of initiatives referred to the GCC Financial Markets (Exchanges) Committee, updates on the Inter-Governmental Registration Regulations, the minutes of the 25th meeting of the Working Group on the Strategy for Integrating Financial Markets in the GCC countries, and the minutes of the 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th meetings of the Working Group of Specialists in Communication and Investor Awareness at the Financial Market Regulators in the GCC countries.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of expanding the scope of the Gulf Smart Investor Award, which is organized annually as part of the joint "MALM" investment awareness program launched by the financial market regulatory bodies in the GCC countries in 2020. The program aims to enhance investor awareness in the GCC, disseminate knowledge about the fundamentals of investing in financial markets, and highlight methods of fraud and risks, while emphasizing the need to adopt strategies that help mitigate these risks.
The Committee of Heads of GCC Capital Market Authorities (or their representatives) also reviewed the minutes of the twelfth meeting of the Working Group of Officials Responsible for Training and Studies at the Financial Market Regulators in the GCC countries.  (QNA)
