Cairo, September 6 (QNA) - The League of Arab States has strongly condemned the statements, made by two ministers in the Israeli occupation government, on displacing the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued today, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy asserted that such statements challenge the efforts of the international community to achieve peace and move forward in ending the war in the Gaza Strip and putting an end to the humanitarian suffering endured by the Strip's residents as a result of Israel's ongoing unilateral and escalating policies.

He emphasized that talk of displacing the Palestinian people is completely unacceptable, and that such statements, plans, and measures proposed to infringe upon the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people are, in essence, a clear and blatant violation of the principles of international law and international humanitarian law.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League also pointed out that issuing such statements at this time, while the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip continues, coinciding with Israel's lack of response to internationally supported peace efforts, represents a deliberate attempt by the occupying power to complicate the situation, jeopardize the security and stability of the region, and divert attention from the real reasons behind the obstruction of peace efforts.

He reiterated the League of Arab States' support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land, noting that any discussion of the Gaza Strip, geographically and demographically, is fundamentally an integral part of the discussion on establishing an independent Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States warned of the dangerous consequences of such statements for peace and stability in the region, considering them a continuation of Israel's escalation, which threatens the region with a new wave of instability for narrow electoral gains.

Fahmy called on the international community and its institutions to confront such statements and to assume their responsibilities to stop any attempts that would bring about changes on the ground and to the people that would impose a new reality that diminishes all inalienable Palestinian rights.
