Qatar to Host 6th Recycling and Sustainability Conference in October
Doha, September 30 (QNA) - Qatar's Ministry of Municipality will hold a recycling conference on October 6-7, bringing together government bodies, private-sector organizations and local and international experts in waste management and the circular economy.
During a press conference on Wednesday, ministry officials outlined its objectives and the logistical and media arrangements for the sixth Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference and Exhibition.
Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services and chairman of the organizing committee, said the conference would provide a platform for advancing Qatar's efforts to promote sustainability and develop a more integrated and efficient waste-management system.
He said this year's edition would place greater emphasis on turning knowledge into practical applications and workable solutions, while encouraging innovation and investment and expanding partnerships aimed at turning waste into economic and environmental value.
The conference will address developments in waste collection, sorting and treatment, the recovery of recyclable materials, and the recycling of construction and demolition waste, said Hamad Jassim Al Bahr, Director of the Waste Recycling and Treatment Department and a member of the organizing committee.
He also highlighted the role of technology in improving operational efficiency and stressed the importance of the private sector as a key partner in investing in industries based on recycled materials.
The ministry will also introduce new sustainability initiatives during the event to promote environmental awareness among children through interactive activities.
A dedicated program for school students will feature workshops and awareness activities.
The ministry said its media campaign for the conference would begin 10 days before the event and continue during and after the conference to highlight its outcomes and recommendations.
A fully equipped media center and studio will also be established at the conference venue to support journalists and broadcasters with live coverage and reporting facilities.
The conference is part of Qatar's efforts to strengthen sustainable waste management and promote the principles of the circular economy in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. (QNA)
