Doha, September 30 (QNA) - The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs is holding the second Kitab Al-Ummah Forum on Oct. 5-6 at Qatar University's (QU) College of Law halls.
Held in collaboration with QU, the event is bringing together distinguished researchers, academics and specialists. The forum is the epitome of the scientific and institutional partnership between the Ministry's Department of Islamic Research and Studies and QU's College of Sharia and Islamic Studies and Ibn Khaldun Center for Humanities and Social Sciences. The goal is to reinvigorate the cultural role of this book series and build on its scientific legacy spanning more than four decades so as to strengthen intellectual awareness and Islamic identity in line with the Ministry's strategic plan and Qatar National Vision 2030.
Participants are expected to delve into four key themes. The first theme focuses on renewing the tools and substance of contemporary Islamic discourse and addressing the challenges of outreach and influence.
The second sheds light on the issue of identity amid the all-encompassing forces of globalization and Westernization, as well as ways to reinforce core principles and values and preserve social cohesion.
The third theme examines the epistemological grounding of God's laws governing human beings and the universe and shaping the course of history and societies, with the fourth addressing the jurisprudence of balancing competing considerations and setting priorities to help guide decision-making and anticipate future visions.
  The department has set requirements for participation, including the submission of analytical scholarly papers addressing one of the aforementioned themes based on the publications of this series and in conformity with rigorous academic criteria, with a length ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 words.
