Doha, September 28 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber has discussed cooperation on trade and investment with a delegation from the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka's Colombo Port City Economic Commission.
This came during the meeting between Qatar Chamber First Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari and Colombo Port City Economic Commission Chairman Harsha Amarasekera.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between both countries' private sectors, strengthening commercial and economic relations and increasing bilateral trade.
Discussions also focused on introducing high-value investment opportunities available to Qatari investors. Members of the Sri Lankan delegation presented an overview of the project, highlighting key investment incentives, tax exemptions, regulatory frameworks, and recent project developments.
Qatar Chamber First Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari said that the Chamber is keen on fostering communication between the Qatari and Sri Lankan business communities.
Port City Colombo offers a diverse range of investment opportunities and could serve as an important gateway for Qatari investors seeking to expand into the Sri Lankan market, he added.
Mohamed bin Twar noted that the Chamber urges Qatari investors to explore the opportunities available in the City and consider establishing joint ventures with Sri Lankan counterparts across sectors of mutual interest.
It is worth noting that Port City Colombo is a major urban development project and multi-use Special Economic Zone (SEZ) located in Sri Lanka's capital.
Built on approximately 269 hectares of reclaimed land, the project aims to attract foreign direct investment and position Sri Lanka as a regional business and services hub.
The zone offers investment opportunities across financial services, information technology, professional services, shipping and logistics, tourism and hospitality, and regional headquarters. (QNA)
