Amman, September 28 (QNA) - Jordan on Monday condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Itamar Ben-Gvir, the extremist national security minister in the Israeli occupation government, alongside an entourage of extremist settlers, while escorted by the occupation police.
Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Fuad Majali hit back in a statement, stressing that this move flagrantly violates international law and international humanitarian law. He argued that this action is an unacceptable escalation and provocation.
This infiltration brazenly goes at variance with the historic and legal status quo in the Noble Sanctuary in Jerusalem and desecrates the holy place, Majali contended.
Majali stressed that Jordan flatly pushed back against the ongoing intrusions by ministers and officials in the occupation government, alongside extremist settlers, into the Mosque, along with their provocative actions.
He warned of the consequences of these continued breaches, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctities.
Consequently, Majali implored the international community to take a tough position that compels Israel, as the de facto occupying power, to cease its unlawful violations and actions toward the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
He likewise called for halting all measures that encumber worshipers' access to the Mosque. (QNA)
