Cairo, September 27 (QNA) - Egypt has condemned the ongoing Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank and the repeated incursions by settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli police, as well as the tightened measures and restrictions imposed on the movement of Palestinian citizens. It warned of the repercussions these practices could have on the situation in the Palestinian territories.

In a statement issued today, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its categorical rejection of statements made by Israeli officials calling for the expansion of operations in the West Bank and the undermining of the Palestinian Authority.

The Ministry emphasized the necessity of halting all unilateral and escalatory measures and respecting the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem, reiterating its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
