Qatar Foundation Wraps Up 2nd QIYADA Conference
Doha, September 26 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development today concluded the second edition of QIYADA (Qatar Islamic Youth Aspiration and Development Assembly), held over two days at Multaqa (Education City Student Center) under the theme "Guided by Faith: Thriving in a Changing World," with the participation of more than 1,300 young Muslims, alongside researchers, educators and thought leaders from diverse backgrounds.
The conference featured discussions on faith, identity and leadership, as well as ways to empower Muslim youth to navigate contemporary challenges, strengthen their role in serving their communities and contribute actively to their future.
During a talk titled "Discipline and Leadership," scholar and human rights activist Dr. Omar Suleiman underscored the importance of focusing on priorities and avoiding distractions. He noted that authentic leadership is rooted in self-discipline and the ability to direct efforts toward pressing issues and unmet needs within society.
He explained that successful leaders look beyond the distraction of minor details and focus instead on issues and challenges that others may overlook, urging young people to remain focused and work toward creating a lasting positive impact in their communities.
Meanwhile, Founder and Director of the Etizan Center for Psychological, Educational, and Sharia Consultation and Training, Dr. Hanan Ahmed Al Qattan addressed the concept of authentic leadership and the importance of honesty and self-awareness in building trust with others during a talk titled "The Fragility of a Leader."
She stressed that a true leader is not someone who conceals their vulnerabilities, but rather one who recognizes them and responds to them with awareness and responsibility. She said that empathizing with others and sharing in their challenges strengthens trust and reflects a deep understanding of the trust and responsibility inherent in leadership.
The second edition of QIYADA was organized by the Office of Wellness and Spiritual Life within Qatar Foundation's Higher Education division, with Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) serving as the official sponsor and the Ministry of Sports and Youth as participant sponsor. (QNA)
