Riyadh, September 26 (QNA) - The Saudi Arabian national team secured the first qualification spot to the semifinal round of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, being held in Saudi Arabia, after recording its second consecutive victory over Oman with a score of 3-0 on Saturday at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, in the second round of Group A.

Firas Al Buraikan scored twice in the 11th and 34th minutes, and Hassan Kadesh scored in the 18th minute.

With its second consecutive victory, Saudi Arabia raised its tally to six points and moved to the top of the overall standings, two points ahead of Iraq in second place with four points. Saudi Arabia has officially secured one of two qualification spots from the group to the knockout round, even before its final group match against Iraq.

Oman, meanwhile, suffered its first defeat of the tournament after drawing with Iraq in the opening round, leaving it with one point in third place. It retains some hope of qualifying before its final group match against Kuwait, which has become the first team officially eliminated from the group stage. (QNA)
