New York, September 25 (QNA) - The UN Security Council strongly condemned ongoing Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and continued threats to commercial navigation in the Red Sea and Bab Al Mandab, demanding an immediate end to military escalation and civilian targeting.
In a press statement, the Council reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's inherent right to self-defense under international law and expressed full solidarity with the Kingdom. 
Council members urged strict implementation of Resolution 2216 and called for practical international cooperation to block weapons, funding, and technical aid to Houthi forces.
The Council expressed grave concern over the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) reports indicating at least 125,000 civilians have been killed, injured, or displaced in Yemen since early September due to Houthi strikes.
It called for unhindered humanitarian access and demanded the immediate, unconditional release of detained UN, diplomatic, and NGO personnel.
Reaffirming commitment to Yemen's unity and sovereignty, the Council emphasized that sustainable peace cannot be achieved through violence, urging all parties to engage constructively with UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg toward a comprehensive political settlement. (QNA)
