New York, September 25 (QNA) - Addressing the 81st UN General Assembly session, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al Zaidi stated that centralizing decisions on war and peace strictly within constitutional institutions and restricting weapons to state control remain his government's top priority.
Al Zaidi noted that ending the International Coalition's mission marks a transition toward broader economic and developmental partnerships while Iraq continues strengthening its national defense capabilities. 
He urged enhanced border security and reiterated Iraq's commitment to diplomacy, non-interference, and good neighborliness.
On the economy, Al Zaidi highlighted diversification efforts, citing the Development Road project, connecting the Grand Faw Port to Europe via Turkiye, as a strategic trade and energy corridor. He also addressed climate change, water scarcity, and desertification, calling for fair water rights and joint resource management under international law. (QNA)
