New York, September 22 (QNA) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for stopping wars in the Middle East, an immediate humanitarian aid flow and the freedom of navigation according to the international law.
The remarks came during his address at the opening of the 81st UN General Assembly on Tuesday.
The UN chief touched on several key fronts. He warned that violence, displacement, and settlement expansion in the West Bank threaten to erase the two-state solution and raise the specter of ethnic cleansing.
Guterres condemned the ongoing war as a conflict fueled by external actors that has transformed into a war directly targeting civilians.
He also denounced the lack of permanent African representation on the UN Security Council as unjust and indefensible.
Concluding his address, Guterres emphasized that the world needs a strengthened United Nations with the resolve to build a fairer, interconnected multipolar future. (QNA)
