New York, September 22 (QNA) - French President Emmanuel Macron said Tuesday that it was unacceptable for the international community to stand by and watch the shameful scenes unfolding in Gaza and the West Bank without taking action. He stressed that establishing a two-state solution was essential to the security of all parties.
Speaking at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Macron criticized the escalation of settler violence in the West Bank, saying it was stripping the Palestinian people of their legitimate right to exist.
He dismissed the purported peace efforts in Gaza, saying they had failed to open any humanitarian corridor and that what was happening there was a scene that should shame everyone.
Addressing developments in the region, the French president said the Strait of Hormuz must not be used as a tool for exploitation, stressing that all ships must be able to pass through safely.
In his address, Macron warned of the resurgent "law of the jungle" around the world and called for standing firmly alongside the United Nations. (QNA)
