New York, September 22 (QNA) - Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, participated in a dialogue session titled "Qatar's Strategic Role in a Changing Middle East" as part of the 2026 Concordia Annual Summit, held in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, in collaboration with the Doha Forum.
Dr. Al Ansari emphasized that the State of Qatar continues its diplomatic efforts, in coordination with its regional and international partners, to reach peaceful solutions to the crises in the region, and to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy in order to contribute to achieving regional security and stability.
He also stressed the necessity of reaching a sustainable diplomatic solution to the crisis with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and creating appropriate conditions for resuming negotiations to contribute to halting escalation and preventing the expansion of conflict in the region, affirming Qatar's consistent position on the necessity of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law, and promoting coordination and cooperation among the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council to preserve the region's security and stability.
Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the strength of the strategic partnership between the State of Qatar and the United States of America, and the importance of continuing to promote defense and security cooperation between the two countries to support security and stability in the region.
Regarding the Gaza Strip, Dr. Al Ansari affirmed the continuation of Qatar's efforts, in coordination with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America, to advance the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, emphasizing in this context the necessity of all parties fulfilling their commitments to contribute to improving the humanitarian situation in the Strip. He also warned of the consequences of Israeli measures aimed at changing the status quo in the West Bank, and the threat they pose to opportunities for achieving peace and stability in the region.
