Qatar Press Center Board Holds 15th Meeting
Doha, September 20 (QNA) - Qatar Press Center's Board of Directors held its 15th meeting, chaired by Board Chairman Abdulrahman Majed Al Qahtani.
Taking place at the Center's headquarters, the meeting discussed a host of issues and decisions, in addition to approving the center's work plan and schedule of events and activities for the coming period.
The Board also unanimously appointed Jaber Salem Al Harmi as Vice Chairman.
The meeting underscored the importance of continuing to advance Qatar's media sector and strengthening its standing and impact. It also set to further develop journalistic and media content.
The Board stressed the need to keep pace with rapid changes in the media landscape, as well as promoting professionalism and innovation across various platforms.
Newspapers and media outlets play a significant role in reporting the truth, raising public awareness, highlighting national issues, and supporting the country's development, noted the meeting, strengthening the standing of Qatar's media sector and advancing the mission of professional and responsible journalism.
The Chairman and Board welcomed the State of Qatar's progress and its ranking first among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the 2026 World Press Freedom Index.
This reflects the continued development of Qatar's media sector and the importance Qatar attaches to supporting press freedom and strengthening the media sector's role in serving society, while fostering a media environment built on professionalism, responsibility, and adherence to journalistic standards, they said.
