The Hague, September 17 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has become the 95th member of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) after formally depositing its instrument of acceptance on Thursday.

HE Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Dr. Mutlaq Al Qahtani handed over the document to HE Jules Van Eijndhoven, head of the Treaties Division at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs during a ceremony in the Hague.

HE HCCH Secretary-General Dr Christophe Bernasconi attended the event representing the organization's Permanent Bureau.

Doha first applied for the organization's membership on April 10, 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, HE Al Qahtani said Qatar's accession reflected the country's keenness to boost international legal and judicial cooperation.

He also highlighted Doha's efforts to develop rules governing private international law and promote the rule of law. (QNA)
