Riyadh, September 15 (QNA) - Qatar Central Bank (QCB), in cooperation with the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), announced the commencement of acceptance of the national payment card "Himyan" in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Saudi national payment network "mada" card in the State of Qatar, marking a new milestone in advancing cooperation and integration between the national payment systems of the two countries.
The announcement was made at a ceremony held to mark the occasion in the presence of HE Governor of the Qatar Central Bank, Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al-Thani, and HE Governor of the Saudi Central Bank, Ayman bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Sayari, as part of the Money20/20 Middle East 2026 conference in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
QCB said that the gradual commencement of acceptance follows the completion of the technical and operational integration and connectivity arrangements, paving the way for card usage and access to payment services upon completion of the approved integration phases.
QCB added that this initiative represents another milestone in strengthening connectivity between the payment ecosystems of Qatar and Saudi Arabia. It will contribute to more efficient and seamless cross-border payments while expanding access to national payment solutions.
This cooperation reflects the commitment of both sides to further develop payment infrastructure and enhance integration between their national systems, supporting the digital transformation of the financial sector and improving the efficiency, convenience, and accessibility of payment services.
