Baghdad, September 11 (QNA) - Iraq and Turkiye have finalized the draft of a major framework agreement to develop transport and infrastructure, completing four days of legal, financial, and technical talks in Baghdad between key ministries and central banking officials.

Building on a bilateral MoU signed last July, the agreement now awaits high-level government approvals prior to formal signing.

The deal advances the USD 17 billion Development Road project, a strategic trade corridor linking the Gulf to Europe via a 1,200-kilometer railway and highway network from Iraq's Grand Faw Port to the Turkish border.

Backed by a four-party agreement between Iraq, Turkiye, Qatar, and the UAE, the mega-project is scheduled for execution across three phases concluding in 2028, 2033, and 2050. (QNA)
