Washington, August 07 (QNA) - US President Donald Trump said today that the United States has a vast stockpile of ammunition and that defense companies are building more factories and production facilities than at any other time in the country's history.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the United States possesses enormous quantities of ammunition, particularly certain specific types. He added that US defense manufacturers are currently constructing the largest number of factories and production facilities in the nation's history, producing large volumes of weapons that are being delivered immediately for domestic use to meet any potential requirements.

Trump described the leaking of reports alleging ammunition shortages as an act of national betrayal and said those responsible would be identified and prosecuted, adding that he would seek the harshest penalties and lengthy prison sentences against them.

Trump's remarks came in response to a series of reports claiming that Washington's military capabilities have been significantly depleted. According to the reports, The Washington Post and CNN said the United States has used nearly 80% of its THAAD missile interceptor inventory, in addition to consuming most of its stockpile of long-range precision-guided missiles, including ATACMS and Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) systems.
