New York, August 07 (QNA) - The United Nations warned today of the impact of the war on the future of Sudan's children, particularly their education.
UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed stated during a Security Council meeting held under the "Arria-Form," which takes place outside of their formal sessions, that "at least 8 million school-aged children remain out of school, and the impact is disproportionately felt by millions of displaced children, especially those seeking safety outside Sudan."
She noted that the UN and its partners have managed to reintegrate more than one million Sudanese children into some form of learning, but stressed that this is insufficient. She emphasized that the time has come to end the war and prevent Sudan from losing another generation of its children.
Since 2024, the UN has documented more than 67 attacks on schools across Sudan, and more than 154 cases of military use of schools have been reported. (QNA)
