Doha, August 24 (QNA) - The workshop on preparing the Gulf Strategy to Combat Cybercrime and AI-Related Crimes began in Doha on Monday, hosted by the Ministry of Interior and organized by the GCC Secretariat-General in cooperation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

The three-day workshop brings together representatives of GCC states, experts and specialists in cybercrime to strengthen security cooperation and coordination, develop regional capabilities and address emerging cyber threats.

Participants are discussing the use of modern technologies in combating cybercrime, developing a unified Gulf framework, enhancing cyber investigations and facilitating cross-border digital evidence exchange.

Director-General of Criminal Investigation at the Ministry of Interior Major General Mohammed Ibrahim Al Jufairi stressed the importance of a joint Gulf strategy to enhance coordination, information sharing and technical capabilities, while improving preparedness to prevent, detect and respond to cybercrime.

He noted that the objective of the workshop goes beyond preparing a strategy document to building a unified Gulf security vision that is implementable and measurable, anticipates future threats, and enhances the readiness of security agencies in GCC countries to effectively and proactively address AI-enabled cybercrime.

The workshop is being held in implementation of the decisions and recommendations issued by the 42nd meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Interior of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and within the framework of Gulf security initiatives aimed at unifying efforts and enhancing security integration and coordination among GCC countries in addressing emerging crimes and security challenges.
