Doha, August 23 (QNA) - Georgetown University in Qatar, one of the partner universities of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, welcomed 150 students during its orientation event for new students for the 2026-2027 academic year, at a time when the university is witnessing an expansion of its academic programs and an enhancement of its faculty.

In a statement on Sunday, the university indicated that the new students represent 42 nationalities, including 43 percent Qataris, and are joining the university in conjunction with the launch of a new major in Science, Technology, and International Affairs (STIA), alongside new minors in Art, Heritage, and Cultural Diplomacy, and Women's and Gender Studies.

To support the program growth, the university also welcomed seven new faculty members in 2026, teaching in the disciplines of Arabic, international economics, international politics, and STIA, with five additional visiting appointments.

"Take advantage of the diversity of the university, and learn from it. We are in a region that is in the world's gaze, and you have an extraordinary vantage point from which to observe events as they unfold," said Acting Dean Clyde Wilcox.

"What you develop here is judgment about ideas, theories and facts, and much of that learning will come from the people around you." (QNA)
