Oil Prices Hit Three-Week High on Middle East Supply Concerns
Tokyo, August 20 (QNA) - Oil prices rose in trading today to their highest level in three weeks, supported by concerns that the impasse linked to the U.S.-Iran war will continue to disrupt supplies from the Middle East.
Brent crude futures for October delivery rose $1.20, or 1.3%, to $92.82 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for September delivery gained 92 cents to $86.75 a barrel. The October U.S. crude contract added $1.13, or 1.3%, to $85.52 a barrel.
During the session, both benchmarks touched their highest levels since July 24, extending gains for a fifth consecutive session after settling on Wednesday at their highest levels in nearly a month. (QNA)
