Doha, August 11 (QNA) - The Qatar national basketball team has begun a training camp in Turkiye as part of preparations for the second round of the Asian qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 and the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

Under Turkish coach Hakan Demir, the camp features intensive daily sessions focused on physical and technical preparation, tactical development, and team cohesion ahead of the upcoming competitions.

Qatar finished second in Group D of the first qualifying round with 10 points and will open the second round against China in Doha on August 27, before facing Japan away on August 30.

Although Qatar has already qualified for the 2027 World Cup as host, the qualifiers provide valuable competition against Asia's top teams ahead of the tournament.

At the Asian Games, Qatar is drawn in Group B alongside Iran, Jordan, and Chinese Taipei. It will face Iran on September 10, Jordan on September 12, and Chinese Taipei on September 13. (QNA)
