Doha, July 05 (QNA) - The Public Works Authority 'Ashghal', in collaboration with the Qatar Scientific Club, has launched the fifth edition of the "Future Engineer" Program from July 4 to 16, 2026, with the participation of 40 secondary school female and male students.

The program is part of the two organizations' joint efforts to develop young talent, foster interest in engineering disciplines, and prepare a generation equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to meet the demands of the future.

In a statement on Sunday, Ashghal said that the program aims to enrich students' understanding of various engineering fields and introduce them to real-world engineering applications through a comprehensive training experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical fieldwork. The program also strengthens participants' logical thinking, innovation, and teamwork skills.

The program continues to build on the achievements of previous editions, most notably the success of Shahad Ahmed Al Sulaiti, a participant in the fourth edition of the Future Engineer Program, who won the Gold Medal in the International Exhibition of Inventions in Kuwait, under the "Innovators of Tomorrow" category, for her innovative Smart Helmet designed for use at construction sites. This achievement reflects the program's success in nurturing innovation, developing young talents, and empowering them to compete on the international stage.

During the first week, participants will take part in a field-based training program at the Public Works Authority, where they will visit several key departments and strategic projects. The program includes site visits and specialized workshops introducing students to engineering planning, project management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), surveying technologies and drone applications, as well as quality and safety concepts, asset management, and construction projects.

In the second week, the program will continue at the Qatar Scientific Club, where students will participate in a series of hands-on workshops focusing on engineering skills, engineering project management, and modern construction technologies. Participants will also design and develop innovative engineering prototypes under the supervision of a distinguished group of specialists.

Working in teams, participants will develop innovative engineering ideas and practical solutions to address real-world challenges, including improving worker safety at project sites, promoting energy efficiency, detecting road defects and potholes, raising awareness of the proper use of sewerage networks, developing smart city solutions, and enhancing preventive maintenance efficiency.

The program will conclude with a closing ceremony on July 16, 2026, during which students will present their final engineering projects and prototypes before a specialized judging panel. Outstanding teams in the Engineering Challenge will be announced, while all participants will be honored and awarded certificates and commemorative shields, marking the successful completion of a training journey that combined knowledge, practical application, and innovation, while fostering participants' engineering skills and passion for creativity.
