Cairo, July 31 (QNA) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said the relevant authorities were investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident in which two ships at Damietta Port were struck in a drone attack on Wednesday, highlighting the seriousness of the escalating tensions in the region.

During a phone call today with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, El Sisi reviewed Egypt's efforts to restore stability in the region and stressed the need for Egypt, Spain, Europe, and the international community to work together to halt the escalation.

For his part, Sanchez praised Egypt's efforts in this regard and said Spain condemned the attack on the two ships at Damietta Port.

He also reaffirmed Spain's solidarity with Egypt, both its government and people, during the current circumstances, stressing the need for the United Nations to play its role in ending the ongoing war.

Sánchez also underscored the importance of reaching a just solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution. (QNA)
