Qatar 1812 KM Race Withdrawn from FIA World Endurance Championships for 2026
Doha, July 28 (QNA) - The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and Lusail International Circuit have announced the cancellation of the Qatar 1812 KM round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), which had been scheduled to take place from Oct. 22 to 24, following a decision by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation and Chairman of Lusail International Circuit Abdulrahman bin Abdullatif Al Mannai said the federation respects the decision taken by the FIA World Endurance Championship and the FIA to cancel this year's Qatar 1812 KM race. He added that Qatar's commitment to its partnership with both organizations remains as strong as ever and expressed his hope of continuing to work closely with them to deliver an exceptional event when the championship returns to Lusail International Circuit.
For his part, Chief Executive Officer of the FIA World Endurance Championship Frederic Lequien said the federation and the championship had remained in close contact with Lusail International Circuit and the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation throughout the decision-making process. He highlighted the close and long-standing relationship between the parties. He also stressed that the Qatar 1812 KM is an important and established fixture on the FIA World Endurance Championship calendar and affirmed that the race will return in the future. (QNA)
