US President Cites Progress in Talks with Iran
Washington, July 27 (QNA) - US President Donald Trump said the United States was currently holding what he described as productive talks with Iran.
Speaking to reporters today, Trump said he has ample time to deal with Iran and added that there was a strong possibility of progress. He added that the decision to suspend strikes against Iran was intended to give diplomacy another opportunity, while warning that he could order the resumption of large-scale military operations if the negotiations fail.
Trump added that the United States was engaged in intensive talks with Iran and that if the negotiations do not succeed, Washington would return to a very strong military response.
Asked how much time he was prepared to give the diplomatic process, Trump said he would not allow much time, adding that the talks must move quickly or they would not move forward at all.
The US president also said he decided to suspend the strikes last Friday after mediating countries asked him to give negotiations another chance, adding that he believes Tehran wants to reach an agreement. (QNA)
