Ottawa, July 20 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the province of British Columbia, western Canada.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km and was located 208 km west of Port McNeill.
There have been no reports of casualties or damage, and no tsunami warning was issued.
Canada's west coast lies within a geologically significant area known as the Ring of Fire, where the Pacific Plate and smaller tectonic plates collide, causing frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity. (QNA)
