Riyadh, July 19 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the 96th session of the Executive Council of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) on Sunday.

The event, held virtually, saw the participation of Their Excellencies Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Education in the GCC member states, and the Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Development Affairs at the General Secretariat of the GCC.

HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, represented the State of Qatar at the session.

The session discussed an array of items on the agenda, with Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), Maha Zayed Al Qaqaa Al Ruwaili, delivering a presentation on energies that create achievement and capabilities that chart the future.

The presentation delved into the system of educating students with disabilities in the State of Qatar, including combined efforts toward providing an inclusive and fair education.

The session was inaugurated by remarks from HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Bureau Mohammed Hamza Alqasim, who underscored the importance of envisioning the future of education and being ready for its mutations.

The responsibilities today exceed the follow-up on existing programs and projects to encompass investing in opportunities offered by the technological revolution and artificial intelligence, Alqasim pointed out, remarking that this would help the Gulf educational systems prepare generations that wield knowledge, skills and values that advance them to compete and effectively contribute to developing nations.

For his part, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Development Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat, Khalid bin Ali Al Sunaidi, said the ABEGS's Strategy 2026-2030 represents an ambitious framework aimed at fostering Gulf educational integration, charting the future of education and strengthening the Bureau's stature through advancing educational policies, capacity-building and the launch of high-impact initiatives that promote the quality of education and support the shared Gulf identity.

Director General of the ABEGS Dr Mohammed bin Saud Al Moqbel outlined the Bureau's career spanning over five decades, alongside its role in backing joint Gulf educational action.

He touted the Bureau's outstanding accomplishments that helped beef up joint Gulf educational action by dint of the generous support from Their Majesties and Highnesses, the heads of the GCC states, along with the constant follow-up by Their Excellencies the Ministers of Education. (QNA)
