Kuwait, July 19 (QNA) - Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said on Sunday that a power generation and water desalination plant had come under an Iranian attack for the second time in two days.

In a statement, the ministry said the attack sparked a fire in parts of the facility and affected a large number of power generation units, prompting the activation of emergency plans and an immediate response to contain the incident and maintain the stability of the country's power system.

It added that firefighters responded immediately and brought the blaze under control, while the ministry's technical and emergency teams, in coordination with the relevant security authorities, implemented the necessary technical and precautionary measures to secure the facility, assess the damage, and restore the affected units to service as quickly as possible while adhering to the highest safety standards.

The ministry said its technical teams continue to work around the clock to maintain the stability of the country's power system and ensure uninterrupted service, while closely monitoring the power grid and taking all necessary measures to minimize any disruption.

It added that it is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the relevant authorities and will provide updates through its official channels.

Kuwait has been subjected to Iranian missile and drone attacks over the past two days. (QNA)
