HH the Amir, Iraqi Prime Minister Hold Official Talks
Doha, July 19 (QNA) - HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held official talks with HE Prime Minister of the sisterly Republic of Iraq, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, at Lusail Palace on Sunday.
At the outset of the talks, HH the Amir welcomed the Iraqi Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation, expressing hope that the fraternal relations between the two countries would continue to grow and prosper across various fields.
For his part, HE the Iraqi Prime Minister offered condolences on the passing of HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. He also thanked HH the Amir for the warm reception and expressed his hope that the visit would help expand bilateral cooperation and strengthen ties between the two countries across broader horizons.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and expand cooperation across various fields. They also discussed the most significant regional and international issues and developments, especially the evolving situation in the region.
Both sides stressed the importance of all parties adhering to dialogue and diplomacy and implementing the agreements reached under the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and promoting regional stability.
The talks were attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, HE Chief of Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi.
Also attending from the Iraqi side were Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein and a number of senior officials. (QNA)
