CENTCOM Says Two US Service Members Killed Repelling Iranian Attacks in Jordan
Washington, July 18 (QNA) - US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the death of two US service members in Jordan during its defense, alongside partner forces, against Iranian attacks using ballistic missiles and drones.
In a statement on Saturday, CENTCOM confirmed that one of its service members remains missing, while four others were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals before they were later discharged.
The statement noted that other personnel returned to duty after being evaluated for minor injuries.
Earlier today, a responsible military source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces announced that Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft intercepted and shot down four drones that entered Jordanian airspace over the past 24 hours.
The source also announced that air defense systems intercepted and shot down, early today, 10 Iranian missiles that entered Jordanian airspace and were targeting the Kingdom's territory.
The source added that the interception and downing operations resulted in no casualties or material damage.
It further noted that the Jordanian Armed Forces continue to monitor the Kingdom's airspace and various developments while maintaining the highest levels of vigilance to deal with any potential threat in accordance with the enforced rules of engagement. (QNA)
