Kuwait, July 13 (QNA) - The State of Kuwait on Monday expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the continued attacks targeting its consulate general in Basra, Iraq.
These attacks constitute an unacceptable violation of the sanctity of the consulate and undermine the Iraqi government's efforts to fulfill its international obligations under the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, particularly Article 31, which obligates the host state to take the necessary measures to ensure the full protection and inviolability of consular missions.
In a statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that despite the Iraqi government's efforts to address these attacks, Kuwait emphasizes the need for immediate and decisive action to hold all those involved in these hostile acts accountable, ensure they are not repeated, and take all necessary measures to protect the inviolability of Kuwait's diplomatic and consular missions accredited to Iraq and guarantee the safety and security of their staff.
