Brussels, July 01 (QNA) - European stock markets opened mixed on Wednesday as investors await remarks from several central bank officials participating in the European Central Bank’s annual forum in Portugal, particularly the speech by the new Chairman of the US Federal Reserve, Kevin Warsh.

The European STOXX 600 index fell 0.3% to 639.64 points, after recording in the previous session its strongest quarterly performance since October 2020.

Among major European markets, France’s CAC 40 index in Paris declined by 0.26%, Britain’s FTSE 100 index in London dropped by 0.26%, while Italy’s FTSE MIB index in Milan posted a larger decline of 0.40%.

Germany’s DAX index in Frankfurt rose by 0.18%, shares of Associated British Foods, the owner of Primark, fell by 2.7%, and shares of Swedish defense equipment manufacturer Saab gained 1.7%. (QNA)
