French President Calls on Europe to Beef Up Protection of Industries
Paris, June 08 (QNA) - French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Europe to better protect its industries and confront what he described as unfair competition.
This is necessary to ensure that European countries can support their industrial production and preserve jobs, he said in a statement Monday.
Europe should act in a coordinated manner to impose stricter rules in response to external competition, including protective measures and tariffs when necessary, the French President said, noting that the objective is to provide European industries with fair protection.
Macron said that France is monitoring cases involving companies facing significant competitive pressures, adding that safeguarding the industrial base requires swift and balanced European action to ensure the continuity of production and employment. (QNA)
