Damascus, June 29 (QNA) - Syria and Iraq agreed on Monday to establish a high-level joint coordination committee to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance coordination across a range of sectors.

According to a statement by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement was reached during talks in Damascus between Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.

The discussions covered mechanisms for the transport and transit of energy supplies, plans to rehabilitate the Iraq-Syria oil pipeline, and cooperation in the water and agriculture sectors to boost food security, promote economic integration, and advance shared interests.

The two sides also reviewed ways to deepen security coordination and expand cooperation in support of the security of both countries, regional stability, and efforts to address common challenges. (QNA)
