Doha, June 29 (QNA) - Qatar's Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has held a workshop with Qatari Diar to strengthen coordination on environmental assessment and permitting procedures for development projects.

The workshop, organized by the ministry's Environmental Assessment and Permits Department, brought together officials and specialists from both organizations as part of efforts to support sustainable urban development.

The ministry said the session aimed to raise awareness of the environmental requirements governing development projects and explain the procedures for obtaining environmental assessments and permits, while promoting the protection of natural resources and sustainable development.

Officials outlined the department's role in developing and implementing environmental standards for projects and facilities, overseeing environmental impact assessments, reviewing environmental studies and issuing the permits and approvals required for development projects.

The workshop also covered the stages involved in obtaining environmental permits, application and follow-up procedures, and the technical requirements for environmental impact assessment studies. Participants discussed key challenges and best practices to help accelerate project delivery while ensuring compliance with Qatar's environmental standards.

The ministry also showcased its automated digital services, available through its website and the "Bee'ah" mobile application, which enable companies and institutions to submit applications, upload documents, track requests and receive environmental approvals and permits electronically.

At the end of the workshop, ministry specialists answered participants' questions and reviewed technical guidelines for urban and development projects, reaffirming the ministry's commitment to providing technical support and guidance to partners in line with Qatar's ongoing urban and economic development.
