Riyadh, June 26 (QNA) - Saudi Arabia has announced additional precautionary measures to reduce the risk of Ebola entering the Kingdom, including suspending travel by Saudi citizens to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan, and halting the issuance of all types of visas for travelers arriving from those countries.
The measures also apply to individuals arriving via third countries if they have been present in any of the three affected states within the previous 21 days, the Saudi authorities said.
The Kingdom said its health surveillance and emergency response systems continue to operate proactively in coordination with domestic and international partners to safeguard public health and contribute to global disease prevention efforts.
Saudi officials stressed that the country's overall public health situation remains stable and under close monitoring, adding that no confirmed or suspected Ebola cases have been recorded since the precautionary measures were introduced.
The government described the latest restrictions as preventive measures aimed at limiting the risk of disease transmission and protecting the health of citizens, residents and visitors.
Saudi Arabia has already strengthened health screening procedures for travelers arriving from countries neighboring outbreak areas, including Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and the Republic of the Congo. The measures include enhanced screening at points of entry, reinforced health surveillance and early response protocols. (QNA)
