Washington, June 26 (QNA) - Turkiye bowed out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite edging the United States 3-2 in their final Group D match.
The United States struck first through Auston Trusty in the third minute, but Arda Guler restored parity for Turkiye seven minutes later. Baris Yilmaz then completed the turnaround by giving Turkiye a 2-1 lead in the 31st minute.
Sebastian Berhalter equalized for the US early in the second half, scoring in the 49th minute. However, Kaan Ayhan netted a dramatic winner in the eighth minute of stoppage time to secure victory for Turkiye, though the result was not enough to keep them in the tournament. (QNA)
